For a homeowner with a refined palate for food and wine, this Houston kitchen leaves nothing to chance. Designer Nicole Herger of Bentwood of Houston led the cabinetry work. Interior Designer Sarah Eilers of Lucas Eilers Design Associates shaped the broader vision. Together, they created a space that performs as beautifully as it looks.
From the earliest planning stages, every element was curated to inspire creativity and elevate entertaining. Appliance selections prioritized performance and precision above all else. Storage was tailored to optimize both workflow and aesthetic impact. Specialized elements were chosen because they reflect how this homeowner actually lives. The result is a kitchen as considered as the cooking that happens inside it.
Throughout the process, one guiding principle held firm. The kitchen had to balance beauty and functionality without ever sacrificing one for the other. Built to last and designed for taste, this space is as enduring as it is inspiring.
Bentwood Luxury Kitchens crafted each element to showcase the possibilities of truly custom cabinetry.
The Lenox Door Commands the Room

Bentwood’s Lenox door anchors the design with quiet authority. Exclusive to the Bentwood Collection, it runs nearly an inch thick. Refined bevel detailing signals craftsmanship before a single drawer opens. The door carries the weight and presence of fine furniture, setting the tone for every detail that follows

On the perimeter cabinetry, a soft Pepperdust finish keeps the palette restrained and cohesive. Contrast arrives on the island through a rich Walnut Copper stain. This finish pairing demonstrates sophisticated design thinking. Knowing when to hold back allows another element to step forward and lead.

Custom cabinetry at this level is not simply storage. Rather, it elevates the entire room with materiality and detailing that speak to a deeper commitment to craft. Every surface tells a story of precision and patience, and each cabinet earns its place in the room.
Appliances Chosen for Serious Cooks

A 30″ Sub-Zero Refrigerator flanks one side of the Sub-Zero Wolf coffee system. On the opposite side, a 30″ Sub-Zero Freezer completes the thoughtful pairing. Both appliances disappear behind custom cabinetry that carries the same quiet confidence as the rest of the room.

Beneath the Sub-Zero Wolf coffee system, a dedicated Bentwood drawer holds cups right where they belong. Bentwood’s dovetail construction holds everything together with lasting precision. Good design anticipates the next move before you make it.

Two Sub-Zero Wolf dishwashers flank the sink, with one positioned on each side. That detail sounds modest until a dinner party ends without a single thought about dishes.

A 48″ Sub-Zero Wolf range anchors the cooking zone with unmistakable intent. Best’s downdraft ventilation rises to the moment, then retreats for a clean, open look.
Every surface reflects this homeowner’s commitment to a kitchen that earns its keep. Each fixture reinforces the same dedication to purposeful, lasting design.
The Details that Tie It Together

The Galley Workstation handles prep, serving, and cleanup within one beautifully considered run of counter. Specifically designed for serious culinary environments, it streamlines every stage of the cooking process. This is the kind of integration that disappears into daily life because it works so seamlessly.

Storage throughout the kitchen was built around the homeowner’s real habits and routines. Bentwood drawers on both sides of the 48-inch range hold pots, pans, and a dedicated drawer just for lids.
Moreover, every spice, oil, and bottle has a precise home, organized and accessible to the client’s exact proportions. A serious cook deserves serious storage, and Bentwood delivered that with evident care.

The wine collection earned its own showcase with a custom pull-out and adjustable shelving. Every glass, in every shape and height, has its rightful place in the layout. Crystal earned its own dedicated cabinet, thoughtfully built for a life well-poured. Here, storage reflects a passion rather than simply a practical need.
Purpose-built storage like this changes how a kitchen feels. Suddenly, nothing is a hunt. Everything is ready, positioned at the moment you need it, without a second thought. That ease is what separates a well-designed kitchen from a truly great one.
Craft That Endures Beyond the First Impression

Some kitchens are designed to impress. This one was designed to perform, and it happens to do both with equal confidence. The Galley Workstation integrates into daily life without friction or compromise. Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances deliver uncompromising precision at every meal. Bentwood cabinetry in the Lenox door ties every element together with craftsmanship built to last decades.
Nicole Herger and Sarah Eilers brought this vision to life through genuine, careful collaboration. Every decision reflected the homeowner’s exact wishes and lifestyle. Each fixture and surface was selected with clear intention and purpose. This kitchen endures beyond first impressions because it was built around real life. Crafted with care and designed around a passion for cooking, it delivers on every promise, every day.
